If you have been wondering where I have been, in my household we have playfully nicknamed it "Royal Baby Recovery." The weeks before and and after the birth of George, I have been exhausted. More on the royal birth later. Right now I'm in the middle of a little something that I call "Photoshop Bootcamp." Getting organized for fall means that I have about a million things on my plate, but that list will dwindle down, soon enough. Today I am showing you a dream room for my five-year old daughter Adele. We just had her birthday on July 23. This is the story of her royal birth.
I actually had my fourth girl natural by accident. I had checked out the movie The Other Boleyn Girl and decided to get up at 3 am and watch it. It was the day of her due date but all of my friends did not believe I would give birth to my fourth girl right on her due date. My previous three girls had come right on their due date too. A highly unusual and almost statistically impossible thing indeed. There is a scene in the movie where Natalie Portman (playing Anne Boleyn) gives birth to what is supposed to Elizabeth I. I was looking at this rather intense labor scene and had the thought: "I'm so glad I will never have a natural birth. I just can't imagine the pain." Serious. After the movie was over I went upstairs and still couldn't sleep. My husband woke up and suggested we go to the hospital. My reply was, "Just because our first three came right on their due dates doesn't mean this one will. I'm most likely overtired." My husband insisted to at least have me checked. I wasn't feeling any pressure or pain, I just couldn't sleep. I rolled my eyes and said, "Fine." When we got to the hospital at 6 am the nurse checked me and said, "Honey you're dilated to a nine the head is right there, we're just gonna break your water and get things going here." WHHHHAAATT? I can still remember being completely shocked! About 45 minutes later Adele Marquita Pearl was born at a healthy 8.9, and I didn't even break a sweat. Take that P90X. I had two beautiful French names picked out for her middle names, but felt that her middle names should be two family names. She has the lungs of an Adele, although not in a singing kind of way. Adele is my natural royal birth, and maybe one day she will become as powerful a leader as Elizabeth I.
When I think of the name Adele I think of this portrait by Gustav Klimt and Adele Astaire. I would love to do a room for my Adele around this painting. First thing I would do is have one whole wall be a wallpaper of the painting.
I would never try to be a do-it-yourselfer when it comes to duplicating a most precious piece of art. However, maybe some of you reading this may aspire to such a challenge. I say have-at-it, your entire life that is. Now I have made the room I would for the most part like to see on Olioboard.
The monogram pillows keep things juvenile. All of the walls would be painted gold. I'm still undecided on a comforter. Everything in here has modern and sleek lines. I thought about mixing it up, but just didn't feel it. About mid-September I should have a new profile pic up and a few other changes I would like to make. Until then I'll continue to pop in and out a lot more. Linking to: Whipperberry
